Kaizer Chiefs were forced to call off their mid-season trip to Spain to face Borussia Dortmund because of PSL fixture changes.
According to a Siya crew source, the Amakhosi were planning to make the trip to the famed La Manga training facility in the Murcia region of Spain during the summer break in South Africa, although it was eventually cancelled.
The plan was to visit La Manga and undergo a couple of friendlies there, against Dortmund and Peruvian club, Alianza Lima, as they prepared for the second half of their PSL season when it begins this month.
Dortmund, who are regular visitors to the training facility, will still be heading to Spain this month between January 9 -17 when they will take on Standard Liege and VFL Bochum.
Chiefs had planned to make the trip this month ahead of their game against Mamelodi Sundowns on January 28, although with the debacle surrounding CHAN going on and their game against Sundowns being moved to January 23, they had to call it off.
It still remains to be seen whether Chiefs’ players will turn up for the Bafana Bafana camp this week, although SAFA and Gordon Igesund are expecting to have them at their disposal for the tournament this month.
