Kaizer Chiefs have revealed the club is still in the process of finalizing their pre-season plans for the upcoming 2014/15 campaign. However, a major part of this crucial build-up to the new season is expected to be the Carling Black Label Cup final against Orlando Pirates on 26 July.
Currently most of the big names from both sides are receiving plenty of fan votes to start in this clash at FNB Stadium, with the exception of Willard Katsande who is not in the starting line-up for the Amakhosi. At the moment his place is seemingly being taken by fellow central midfielder, George Maluleka.
For Pirates, the most notable exceptions from the first-11 so far are the likes of Lucky Lekgwathi and Lennox Bacela. Nonetheless, with there still being plenty of time before voting ends on 22 July, line-ups could still change significantly.
With this being said, Chiefs are still putting together their pre-season schedule of matches after the CBL Cup concludes in late July. This was confirmed by coach Stuart Baxter on the club's official website.
He said, "We are busy finalising the pre-season plan. Part of the pre-season will include the Carling Black Label Cup which is a competitive game that gives us a chance to assess our readiness. We will look to play a few practice matches with new opponents who can stimulate us a bit. It is not always a necessity to have a high profile friendly during preseason."
