Kaizer Chiefs' development side are one step closer of winning promotion to the lucrative ABC Motsepe League.
This was after the Donald 'Ace' Khuse outfit trounced Godisanang 4-0 last Saturday to advance to the SAB League promotional play-offs.
The winner of the next stage of the competition will qualify to play in the ABC Motsepe League in 2014/15, which means the club's next clash will be a huge encounter.
The 4-0 trouncing of Godisanang was achieved through goals by Chris Matombo, Itumeleng Mashobane, Pule Ekstein and Mpho Khumalo.
Khuse was full of praise for his youthful charges as the Glamour Boys looked ahead to the next crucial step of the competition. He told the club's official website, “I feel honoured to be part of this achievement. This is the first time we participated in the SAB League and to advance to the playoffs is remarkable. The commitment of the lads and everyone involved in the club is starting to produce fruits. The Chairman’s (Kaizer Motaung) dream is coming to fruition. I would like on behalf of the development team thank him for his leadership and support."
He added, “We have been working consistently hard this season. The spirit of development as led by the chairman has captured the imagination of the team. The captain Zitha Macheke has been fantastic as the leader and players such as Chris Matombo and Pule Ekstein have been the pillars in the team this season, not forgetting the role played by each member of the team."
Chiefs development side will take on some yet to be named opponents on June 28 in the final play-off round of the overall league.
