After playing against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday, Kaizer Chiefs have allowed their Bafana Bafana players the day off from training today and the opportunity to recuperate in the swimming pool.
On Tuesday all seven of Chiefs’ Bafana players started the game against Sundowns, which saw Tsepo Masilela substituted due to an injury, and subsequently replaced by Keegan Ritchie.
Coach Stuart Baxter said that the seven players are having a session in the pool in order to help them recovery from their 2013 Africa Cup of Nations exploits. Baxter said that the players had already been given four days to rest, with today’s session allowing them to recuperate.
“Yes they are not training today with the team because we had to rest them and give them the chance to refresh their muscles in the swimming pool. We need them to be fresh and we can't rest them from playing at this stage because we already gave them four days after the Afcon tournament.
“We know they will be ready just like they were against Sundowns on Wednesday," the former Bafana coach said.
