Chiefs Assistant: We Still Expect More From New Signings
Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Patrick Mabedi says he is still expecting a lot more from the new signings at the club.
Mabedi was in charge of Amakhosi’s 2-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in the inaugural Shell Helix Cup, with new coach Giovanni Solinas still awaiting his work permit.
The Malawian says that they are still expecting a lot from the new signings at Amakhosi and emphasised that they will get better the more they are integrated into the team.
“They are getting better and better they’re getting used to other players and the combinations are getting better. We’re still expecting a lot from them and I know they will get better," Mabedi told SABC after the game.
"The more they’re getting game time together the more they will get better.”
On the actual defeat to Sundowns, Mabedi felt the Soweto giants still have a lot of work to do during the pre-season.
“We were playing against a good and well organised team. I think we did well. We tried our best,” he added.
“We should have done better in the first half we knew they were going to come at us. We knew they are a team that keeps the ball, we should have been a little bit compact but overall we’re still in the process of pre-season. So far we will go back to correct our mistakes and take it from there.”
