SA Stopper Spotted At English Club…
A South African goalkeeper has been spotted training with an English club after recently leaving his club in the Premier Soccer League.
Dino Visser, who played 24 league games in all competitions for Cape Umoya United last season, is currently on the lookout for the next step in his career, and the Siya crew has been informed that he is currently training with Charlton Athletic in England.
Charlton got promoted to the English Championship last season, and recently re-signed former Manchester United ‘keeper, Ben Amos, but are seemingly still on the lookout for another stopper to bolster Lee Bowyer’s goalkeeping department.
Visser recently turned 30 and is a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Cape Umoya, and there is thought to be a few options on the table for him as he considers where he wants to play his football in 2019/20.
The former Black Leopards and Platinum Stars man has a European passport as well as his South African one, meaning that he will not be policed by the same rules regarding the opportunity to play in England if it arrives.
Visser’s agent, Sean Roberts, confirmed the news, saying, “Yes, Dino is that side at the moment trying out his luck, but he’s also interested in South Africa if the right offer is on the table… For now we’re happy that he’s getting a chance in England.”
Having been with the Addicks since earlier this month, Bowyer and his technical team are expected to make a decision on the shot-stopper in the near future.
