Mark Mayambela, who is on trial at Djurgardens IF in Sweden, was supposed to get his first run in a game on Saturday afternoon, when Djurgardens took on German club Union Berlin in a friendly in Stockholm.
Mayambela did get onto the pitch as a second half substitute in the 70th minute, only for the game to be halted seconds later because of fan behaviour, and the game never resumed.
Earlier on in the day the match start had been delayed by forty minutes because of fans invading the pitch and flares being thrown onto the pitch.
The pitch invasion was rumoured to have been incited by a banner in the home section featuring Union’s arch-rivals FC Dynamo Berlin.
The police managed to calm the situation for the match to get underway, but halfway through the second-half the referee opted to suspend the game as more fan trouble began with flares being thrown onto the pitch.
Trouble continued outside the stadium and one visiting fan and three policemen were reportedly injured.
Djurgardens will play their next friendly on the 1st of February against Finnish club Mariehamn and Mayambela will hope to get more than a few seconds to impress in that game.
