Full Time: Free State Stars 0-2 Bloemfontein Celtic
Date: 1 February 2014
Venue: Goble Park
Goals in each half from Frank Mhango and Lerato Lamola saw Bloemfontein Celtic run out 2-0 winners over Free State Stars in an Absa Premiership match at Goble Park on Saturday.
Free State started the better of the two teams and created their first chance on goal in the tenth minute when Danny Venter tested the fingertips of Patrick Tignyemb from just outside the box, but the keeper was up to the challenge.
Three minutes later Tignyemb was called into action again, this time producing a brilliant save to deny Danny Venter from the edge of the box.
Despite Free State controlling the play, they found themselves behind in the 32nd minute after Frank Mhango gave Celtic the lead with a clinical finish, 1-0.
Three minutes later and Stars were back in attack when Camaldine Abraw let loose with a powerful shot from distance, but his effort was superbly saved by Tignyemb.
The half ended 1-0 in favour of Stars.
The start of the second 45 continued in the same vein as Stars dictated play and created their first chance of the half in the 51st minute when Paulos Masehe fired over from 20-yards out.
Chances after that, however, were few and far between with Celtic tightening up in defence.
Stars dominated the possession stakes, but failed to make the most of it.
Instead, Celtic doubled their lead six minutes from time after Musa Nyatama slipped Lerato Lamola through on goal and he made no mistake with just the keeper to beat, 2-0.
