After confirming that their player Given Mashikinya has tested positive for COVID-19, Bloemfontein Celtic have issued an update on his progress.
Celtic confirmed that the club conducted the COVID-19 tests on Friday 19 June and the results returned showing that Mashikinya tested positive for the virus.
As confirmed by Siwelele, the 29-year-old midfielder was and is still asymptomatic and is currently in isolation for the next 14 days.
Speaking to the Siya crew, Celtic spokesperson Sello Nduna says that the team is in constant communication with the player and that he is making steady progress.
“Look Given is recovering well, the club is constantly communicating with him, from after the first round of testing, obviously with us speaking to the media and revealing the identity of the player who tested positive.
“We are in daily communication with him and he is currently in quarantine for 14 days, after which the next round of testing will be conducted,” Nduna told the Siya crew.
The former Cape Town City midfielder has been a regular in Lehlohonolo Seema's team this season, having made 20 starts in the Absa Premiership before the forced PSL break due to the COVID-19 outbreak in mid-March.
