Word coming from Bloemfontein Celtic is that the club will not be signing Botswana playmaker, Jackie Mothatego, despite the impressive trial stint he had at the club.
The talented midfielder has been on Phunya Sele Sele’s radar for a while and the club’s previous coach, Clinton Larsen, even travelled to Botswana to see the player in action and was impressed. He trained with the club earlier this month in a bid to win a contract and make a name for himself in the PSL, but had to go back to his home country after being told he won’t be signed.
According to a Siya source, Mothatego did very well during his trial, but could be signed at a later stage rather than immediately.
Celtic’s team manager, John Maduka, revealed, “Yes, the boy was here, but then he stopped training. The thing is that we have exhausted our foreign quota, so we obviously couldn’t sign him.”
