AmaZulu head coach, Cavin Johnson, has explained the 3-2-5 formation used by his side in search of their equalising goal against Ajax Cape Town.

Against the Mother City outfit on the weekend, Usuthu came from two goals down to force a 2-2 draw in the dying minutes of the game.
Johnson was pleased with Durban team’s fighting spirit that led to two late goals from Mhlengi Cele and Mabhuti Khenyeza at the Athlone Stadium on Saturday night.
“We made two silly mistakes for the Ajax goals and I had to make some big decisions late in the second half.
“We changed the formation to 3-2-5, throwing more strikers into their penalty area; with five up front, it worked,” Johnson told AmaZulu’s official website.
“We were 2-0 down, but didn’t drop our heads, and that’s good. We have come from the NFD and are building a team. It’s about momentum and getting some of the players used to the PSL. But, while I have to give the team credit for fighting to come back and earn a point, I also have to use the whip to remind them of the mistakes made for Ajax’s two goals,” concluded the coach.
