Both Daniel Cardoso and Steve Komphela have joined Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the 2015/16 season amongst a number of new additions and the defender has no doubt that Komphela will add value to the team.
The 26-year-old worked under Komphela at Free State Stars in 2012 and 2013, with the coach handing the player his PSL debut at the age of 23.
Cardoso is excited to reunite with his former mentor and thinks that the coach has what it takes to be a success at Chiefs, he told Soccer Laduma, “I worked with Coach Steve Komphela at Stars and I have no doubt that he is going to add value to the team.”
Nevertheless the defender has no illusions about the task awaiting Komphela at the helm of the Soweto giants.
“It is going to be challenging for the coach in his first season taking over from Stuart Baxter, however, like I said, he is a great coach. He is now working with a bunch of players who won the league, not players who were fighting to finish in the top eight. I think that is going to be a huge difference for him this season,” Cardoso said.
