Free State Stars defender Daniel Cardoso is happy to stay with the team, despite the speculation linking him with a move out of the club.
The 23-year-old burst onto the PSL scene this season with a string of fine performances for Ea Lla Koto and has been an ever present figure in Steve Komphela’s side, helping them to a fourth place position on the log.
Stars, with Cardoso in their defence, have conceded only 13 goals so far this campaign, a record only bettered by the league’s top two, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
The defender’s form is said to have attracted the attention of a number of clubs in South Africa, with Ajax Cape Town thought to be keen on acquiring his services, however it seems that he is just happy to be playing at the moment.
Cardoso’s representative, former Bafana Bafana defender Bradley Carnell, told the Siya crew that they are in no rush to move him on.
He said, “We know that there has been a lot of interest in Daniel this season, especially in the last transfer window, but we’re in no hurry for him to leave. For now he’s just focusing on his football and to put it very bluntly, he’s just very happy at Free State Stars.”
Stars have a two-year option on Cardoso’s contract, should they wish to extend his deal, and going on current form, it is an option they are sure to exercise in the near future.
