Cape Verde shocked Angola 2-1 in their AFCON Group A clash on Sunday as they booked their place in the quarter-finals.
An own goal from Nando put the Angolans in the lead but late strikes from Fernando Varela and Heldon Ramos saw the Group A surprise package claim the crucial victory.
Angola were more comfortable on the ball than the Blue Sharks early in the game but they struggled to break down the opposition's determined defence.
However the breakthrough finally came in the 33rd minute when Djalma picked out Amaro on the left wing and the left-back drilled in a cross towards Mateus. Unfortunately for Cape Verde, captain Nando put the ball into his own net.
Cape Verde almost immediately responded as a free kick from Babanco was nodded just past the Angola goal post by Julio Tavares.
The Blue Sharks came close again after the break as Tavares directed Babanco's corner towards goal but Dias pulled off a great save to keep his side ahead.
In the 72nd minute Cape Verde had a great chance. Djaniny controlled Ryan Mendes' cross well but then failed to pull the trigger as the keeper smothered the shot.
The Blue Sharks were level again in the 81st minute. After a scramble on the goalline to clear a rebound fell for Varela who turned home the loose ball to make it 1-1.
The decisive strike arrived in stoppage time as a cross from the right was spilled by Lama and coolly slotted by Ramos who lay in wait.
Standard Bank Moment Of The Game: The stoppage-time winner is no doubt the moment that defined this game as it shot Cape Verde into an unlikely last-eight berth.
