In their search for the team’s second win of the season in the Absa Premiership, Cape Town City are taking aim at Kaizer Chiefs, with a view of climbing up the log after their match this weekend.
The Citizens will host Amakhosi at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday and Benni McCarthy’s side has won one, drawn two and lost one from their four league matches so far this season, while Giovanni Solinas has guided Chiefs to four draws and one loss from their five matches.
City are seventh on the log with five points while Chiefs are 13th with four points. City’s Thabo Nodada says all is in order for the Mother City club in preparing for the Soweto giants on Saturday afternoon.
“The preparations have been fine. It’s obviously a big game with the crowd and everything that’s expected to be at the stadium. We are trying to restore our winning ways in the league because if you look at it, we’ve only got one win in the league. We are high-flying in the cup and we are trying to downplay the nerves,” Nodada told the Siya crew.
The reigning club Player of the Season has featured in all of his team’s matches this season with three starts and one substitute appearance in the league, as well as three starts in the MTN8. The 23-year-old midfielder says his side should guard against picking up yellow cards that could lead to suspensions.
“Also, because we’ve got people on yellow cards and people on bookings, we wouldn’t want to miss any of the games that are coming. But I think we’ve been generally very relaxed and doing the things we do well well and trying to perfect them and just waiting for the day and (hope) to do what needs to be done on the day,” said Nodada.
