Cape Town City Set To Confirm New Venue For Kaizer Chiefs Clash

Cape Town City are expected to confirm a new venue to host Kaizer Chiefs when the Absa Premiership returns next month, September.

The Mother City-based club will welcome Chiefs to their home ground on Wednesday, September 13, in an Absa Premiership clash, however, City’s chairman, John Comitis has revealed that the fixture is set to be moved away from the Cape Town Stadium after unfortunate events took place at the weekend.

Chairman Comitis revealed in a press release earlier today, that up to 800 spectators were denied the ability to purchase tickets at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday, August 27, when City hosted Bidvest Wits in the first leg of the MTN8 semi-finals.

“I could not get myself to celebrate when the final whistle went. I was angry and disappointed with the attitude of the city and especially the police services under Colonel Engelbrecht, who would not concede to co-operate in any way to assist by allowing more tickets to be sold for the 800 odd fans stranded without tickets,” Comitis said in a press release.

However, to avoid a reoccurring of events, the Chairman stated that their upcoming Absa Premiership clash against Amakhosi on September 13, could be moved to the Newlands Stadium.

“I want to move our upcoming Absa Premiership match against Kaizer Chiefs, to Newlands. This treatment to the Cape Town City fans was unacceptable. I can only apologise to our loyal fans. I was gutted for them,” he added.

It won't matter you take Chiefs to Coetzeberg Stadium or Welington there in the farm over Mbekweni. I will be there backing my former players Gumede, Majoro, Teko, Benni, Koapeng and Johanes. I will cheerlead them and buttkiss them when they embarrass the on pause Zebra. I just hope their fans will just boycot the game as i can't afford to be beaten by idiots when they run to Komphela with their dirty socks in the hands.

So this team has 800 fans? Last time I checked Komittis said CC fans will pack the field and put Chiefs to the small 1corner of the stadium.

@Warras4khosi were they denied or they foolishly went to the stadium without tickets? These hooligans were out tickets there and expecting to buy. You know if they try to open the selling ppl would end up pushing each other everyone trying to get ticket first and run like bird to the gate.

Something should be done with the place called "Cape Town" The attitude of residents regarding soccer especially Chiefs as against rugby and police. And on the other hand those who do not buy tickets at official outlets as well as those who are selling fake tickets. We also need to avoid people dying at our stadia. The attitude at Cape Town can trigger that just to spoil the reputation of Chiefs and soccer in general as well as soccer enthusiasts.

@mosesmu mara why you even think of buying ticket at the gate? Are you that lazy that you can't even stop at computicket and buy yourself ticket and some cool drink? It was for good cause, it was a great lesson to these lazy farcars who put our lives in danger.

The truth is, CapeTown City was made aware of coming campaign where Chiefs fans will be boycoting Chiefs games. Now this boss make what happen to a game against Wits as an excuse. You plan to move it because your 13fans won't fill up big CPT Stadium without Chiefs fans. So Newlands will just suits your small team and few drunk Chiefs fans plus few cheerleaders who will be butkissing your small team. Chiefs fans are planning a strong protest in the coming games their #boycotingChiefs is spreading like virus.
