City’s Three Midfielders: One Injured, One At Risk, One Set To Return
Cape Town City’s Three Midfielders: One Injured, One At Risk, One Set To Return
Cape Town City are set to make important decisions about three of their midfielders heading into this weekend’s Absa Premiership encounter.
City will play the visitors on Saturday, September 30 when they lock horns with Ajax Cape Town in the first Absa Premiership Cape Town derby of the 2017/18 campaign.
Head Coach Benni McCarthy will want to field his strongest side, however, one of his influential midfielders will play no part in the day’s encounter.
The City head coach confirmed yesterday that his side will be without influential midfielder, Roland Putsche, as the Austrian will not be fit enough in time for the encounter, after suffering a setback in the team’s clash against Orlando Pirates on September 19.
Teko Modise is on the mend and set to be available for selection on Saturday after the club has confirmed that the veteran midfielder returned to full training this week.
On the other hand, Mpho Matsi is currently on three yellow cards and a fourth booking will see the 27-year-old face suspension and miss out on City’s 2017 MTN8 cup final against SuperSport United on October 14.
However, there is no doubt that Head Coach McCarthy will want to field his strongest side on Saturday, as he looks to guide his team to claim the bragging rights over their city rivals, Ajax.
