“I was hoping for that question not to be asked,” Benni McCarthy said after being asked about the whereabouts of Ayanda Patosi.
Patosi has been absent from the Cape Town City squad in the team’s past two encounters, indicating that his performances in training has not been up to standard.
It was previously reported by the Siya crew that Patosi’s immediate future at the Citizens was brought in to question, with sources indicating that should he not ‘pull up his socks’ he may not be at the club in the new season.
It was subsequently confirmed by Head Coach McCarthy that the club fined the 25-year-old after being guilty of misconduct, which thereafter saw a big improvement in the player’s game.
However, it seems that Patosi seemed to have fallen back into his bad habits, with McCarthy revealing that the chairman, John Comitis, should rather answer questions about the whereabouts of the player.
“Listen, it is what it is when you don’t see him, it is not rocket science, you know. It’s just reality, it's just how it is, I am not going to say, it’s not my place to say, that’s why I do with what I have at my disposal. That’s a question for John, so when you see him, please press him for it and get an answer from him,” McCarthy revealed.
