Cape Town City’s assistant coach, Vasili Manousakis thinks that his side performed well against Mamelodi Sundowns, making the Brazilians look an average side during the first half.
City suffered a 1-0 defeat to Sundowns at the Athlone Stadium on Friday, February 02, dropping further away from the number one spot on the league standings.
Speaking to the media, Manousakis believed that the only thing that his side lacked on the day, was the ability to put the ball in the back of the net, but is hopeful that their new signing, Matthew Rusike will be able to solve the team’s problems going forward.
“I am still speechless, the first half was so one sided, I think the boys played unbelievably well tonight,” the assistant coach told the media.
“To be fair, we made that Sundowns team look very average in the first half, but as we said, all the attempts and corners counts for nothing if you don’t put the ball in the back of the net.
“We are very proud of the boys; I don’t think we could have played better, obviously just the ball in the back of the net. But, that has been a problem now for the last weeks; hopefully Matthew Rusike sorts that out for us,” he added.
