Cape Town City Opt Against Extending Defender’s Stay
Cape Town City opted against extending the stay of Ghanaian defender, Joseph Adjei, as they continue making the necessary adjustments to their squad for the new season.
The Mother City-based club acquired the signing of the 21-year-old centre back on a season-long loan stint last year and the club has confirmed to Soccer Laduma that they opted against extending the player’s stay for the new season.
However, City recently landed the signature of Mozambican international, Joao Pedro Mussica, bolstering the club’s centre back position, while new signings Ayanda Patosi and Lyle Lakay, strengthen the team’s attacking department.
Now, Adjei joins the likes of Bhongolethu Jayiya and Thato Mokeke who all saw their stay with the club come to an end on June 30 this year, after a riveting first season with the 2016 Telkom Knockout champions.
It remains to be seen whether City will announce more new signings in the coming weeks, with the club currently leading the race to land the signature of former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Teko Modise.
