Cape Town City have made a crucial decision regarding one of the side's key players.
The Mother City outfit confirmed that influential midfielder Thabo Nodada has extended his contract to 2024.
“The club is delighted to have signed a new contract with Thabo Nodada. Our vice captain extends his stay until June 2024! An integral figure in the City midfield,” confirmed City on the club’s official Twitter account.
For some time now, Nodada has been a transfer target for Kaizer Chiefs, with the Siya crew having reported in December that the Soweto giants were believed to have based their transfer movements around the potential signing of the 25-year-old midfielder in preparation for the lifting of the club’s FIFA transfer ban.
However, the Mother City club have previously said that they have prioritised a move abroad for the Bafana Bafana international.
The player’s previous contract with City was set to expire in June 2022, after the club announced its extension in January 2018.
It has now been confirmed that a further extension has been agreed to by the parties, in what could be seen as the Citizens aiming to deflect interest in their prized asset.
Nodada was one of the goalscorers over the weekend as City defeated Bloemfontein Celtic 4-0 to advance to the Last 16 of the Nedbank Cup.
