Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler has explained why they did not sign winger Aubrey Ngoma.
Ngoma was on loan to City from Mamelodi Sundowns last season, but injury affected his progress in the early stages of his time at the club, before he eventually came back to get some game time in the second half of the season.
The Siya crew has gathered that Ngoma is no longer a Sundowns player and has recently been on the radar of Swallows FC, though a deal looks to not have materialised, with sources indicating that there is a delay in the agreement of personal terms.
Tinkler has now revealed that the Citizens did not acquire the services of the former Orlando Pirates winger because his package would have been too high.
"Aubrey was there, obviously on loan last season. But this season, to be honest, there was not that much interest in bringing Aubrey because we knew his package would be very high. That's just the harsh reality of trying to bring in a player from a club like Mamelodi Sundowns.
"It's always going to be difficult because no one can compete with the salaries they pay. And unfortunately, those players are not prepared to drop their packages. They want to earn the same and that's not going to happen."
