City At Risk Of Losing Jayiya

Cape Town City are yet to close in on a contract extension for their in-form winger, Bhongolethu Jayiya.

As reported on Soccer Laduma previously, the two parties have been locked in negotiations about extending the 27-year-old’s stay beyond the current 2016/17 campaign.

Jayiya’s contract is set to expire at the end of June this year and the Mother City-based club is running out of time to tie down the player.

The winger scored the first ever goal for the club in the beginning of the 2016/17 campaign and has been instrumental to Head Coach Eric Tinkler’s set-up.

However, Jayiya is free to open up talks about a pre-contract with any other interested suitor, while also waiting to come to an agreement with his current club.

As reported in issue number 1020, the Siya crew has been made aware that Jayiya is currently assessing his other options while his future at the Cape Town-based club is still uncertain.

The club’s chairman, John Comitis won’t be too keen on losing Jayiya on a free at the end of his current deal and it remains to be seen whether an announcement about a new deal for the player will be made in the coming weeks.
