PSL Protocol Uncertainty, Clubs Wait…

Although an Absa Premiership club had measures in place to return to training, the club has opted to wait for the Premier Soccer League's communication on protocols.

Following Minister Nathi Mthethwa’s announcement about contact training being allowed to resume from June 01, Cape Town City took to social media to disclose their process of sanitizing their grounds in order to welcome back their players for possible training sessions this week.

However, the PSL initially asked for patience during this time, as they make sense of the new regulations, all this while also conducting several meetings with the relevant parties, in order to determine the way forward for the 2019/20 season.

City have since confirmed that they will not be conducting training sessions until the PSL communicates the necessary protocols, but in the interim, the club has made the Hartleyvale Stadium available for individual training.

“Players have just been coming in for screening and debriefing. We are waiting for the Premier Soccer League to communicate the important protocols before we start training,” Cape Town City media officer, Julian Bailey told the Siya crew.

“However, we have allowed some players – who don’t have a backyard – to undergo their individual training sessions at the Hartleyvalue Stadium,” he added.
