Cape Town City assistant coach, Vasili Manousakis has explained Victor Obinna’s exit from the club, while also stating that the team is hopeful that their new signing will be able to be their Alexis Sanchez or Sergio Aguero.
The club parted ways with Obinna last week, after a short stint in the Premier Soccer League, where he struggled to make his mark, scoring just one goal in 14 appearances.

However, the club confirmed that the player’s departure was mainly due to personal reason, but the Citizens are hopeful that their Matthew Rusike will be able to be the answer to their goal scoring problems.
“It was tough for him, in terms of the personal side, the family and the wife. They came over and had to go back. The initial deal with the chairman in any case was six months and then we will take it from there. So it was pretty much a mutual agreement, he said – boss, I need to go back and we said okay and then we were scrambling for another striker. It was taking him time to adjust to rest of it,” Manousakis told the media after the game on Friday.
“He is unfortunately gone back home but let’s hope Matty is our Sanchez or our Aguero that is what we are hoping for,” he added.
