Polokwane City Can’t Afford To Lose Key Player
Can Polokwane City hang onto Rodney Ramagalela amidst PSL interest
Polokwane City will have the challenge of hanging onto their prized striker Rodney Ramagalela.
The 29-year-old striker has been a revelation for the Limpopo-based side for the past two seasons since he returned following unsuccessful spells at Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows.
Ramagalela has netted 11 league goals in the current campaign improving his goalscoring tally by one goal from the previous season where he scored 10 times.
Rise and Shine are currently facing the prospect of potentially playing in the play-offs in order to retain their PSL status should they fail to win their last premiership game against Chippa United.
However, the bigger challenge may lie in that Rise and Shine may have to fend off other PSL clubs who may be interested in bringing Ramagalela to their ranks. Following an impressive season where the lanky striker’s goals have played a critical role in helping the Limpopo side stay in the Absa Premiership, Ramagalela has become the target of several clubs.
The Siya crew reported that among the clubs that were eyeing the 29-year-old included Ajax Cape Town and Bidvest Wits who are looking at replacing the departed Egyptian striker Amr Gamal who joined HJK Helsinki.
Ramagalela’s goals against the likes of Baroka, Wits, Golden Arrows and the winning goal against SuperSport United have aided the side to remain the PSL. However, the biggest deciding factor which could determine Ramagalela’s future at the club is whether or not if City can avoid the play-offs and retain their league status.
