CAF Confederations Cup Second Round Second Leg
Teams: SuperSport United v Etoile du Sahel
Date: 29 March 2014
Venue: Lucas Moripe Stadium
SuperSport United will need to overturn a 1-0 deficit when they host Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel in the second leg of their second round Confederations Cup tie at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday night.
A 1-0 win for SuperSport will see the tie go to penalties, so the home team will need to win by two clear goals to be assured of reaching the next stage.
Any away goals for the Tunisian side could prove key to the tie, so SuperSport will hope for a clean sheet against the talented Tunisian club, who are former African champions.
Cavin Johnson’s men lost in controversial circumstances last weekend to a solitary goal from Alaya Bruigi, the controversy arising when Mame Niang had what seemed a legitimate goal disallowed.
SuperSport will have to be at their best to beat a very good Etoile side, and take advantage of the fact that the Tunisian side squandered a number of opportunities in the first leg to make the margin bigger.
Johnson will hope that Sameegh Doutie, who was one of the stand-out players in Tunisia, will be fit for the encounter. Doutie missed SuperSport’s midweek Nedbank Cup win over Moroka Swallows with a hamstring injury.
