Result: Kaizer Chiefs 2-0 AS Vital
Date: 29 March 2014
Venue: FNB Stadium
Kaizer Chiefs crashed out of the CAF Champions League after failing to overturn AS Vita's 3-0 first leg lead at the FNB Stadium on Saturday night.
Knowledge Musona's early strike and Gould's late header was not enough for AmaKhosi, as the Congolese outfit advanced after winning the two legged affair 3-2 on aggregate.
Reyaad Pieterse came to Chiefs rescue as early as the first minute to tip over Vita's free kick for a corner.
Chiefs opened the scoring in the eighth minute through Knowlege Musona's simple close range finsh, after the Zimbabwean did well to get beyond the Vita defence.
Musona could have doubled the lead in the 12th minute but the Zimbabwean failed to beat Nguemba Lmboto from six-yards out after being played in by Siphiwe Tshabalala.
The visitors came close in the 25th minute as Mabidi Lema's free kick from 30-yards out flew just wide of the right-hand post.
Bernard Parker nearly doubled the hosts lead just before the halftime break, as his deflected effort from the edge of the area flew just over the bar.
Kingston Nkatha nearly doubled the hosts lead in the 56th minute but the Zimbabwean's header drew a fine save from Lomboto.
Lomboto came to Vita's rescue again in the 62nd minute to deny Matthew Rusike from the edge of the area.
The hosts threatened once again in the 65th minute as Morgan Gould's effort from close range crashed on to the woodwork.
Morgan Gould doubled the lead in the 91st minute with cracking finish from close range, but it was not enough for Chiefs as they crashed out of the tournament.
Stuart Baxter's side will now be in draw for the CAF COnfederation Cup playoff round.
