Nkhwashu had been a goalkeeper for Aces, Thanda Royal Zulu and FC Cape Town among other clubs during his time in professional football.

Now at 36, Nkhwashu is keen on making an impact in his new role as the goalkeeper coach for Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC in the National First Division. Nkhwashu forms part of the technical team for head coach Sello Chokoe and his assistant in former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder David Mathebula at TTM.

“I got my goalkeeper coaching career with Baberwa FC (in the ABC Motsepe League). I was the team’s goalkeeper coach. I started under (Alex) ‘Barnes’ Bapela at the club and when he left I worked under (Jabulani) Mendu,” said Nkhwashu.

“I am now with TTM. I’m trying and enjoying my new role. There’s been confusion with some people saying that it’s the other Mayoyo (Innocent) who’s here with TTM, but I can confirm to you that it’s me,” confirmed Nkhwashu.

Nkhwashu has confirmed that one of the new signings for TTM for this season is former Mamelodi Sundowns youngster Siyabulela Shai, who had been with him at Baberwa last season.

In other TTM news, Happy Mashau’s representative Mzwakhe Hlongwane has confirmed that the former Maritzburg United and Royal Eagles defender has signed a one-year deal with TTM.

Hlongwane has further confirmed that Sandile Kubheka, who had been on the books of Royal Eagles until recently, has concluded a two-year deal with Richards Bay FC.
