Stuart Baxter’s Kaizer Chiefs face a busy schedule over the next month, with eight games to be played between now and February 23.
The Amakhosi are in fine form in the league, winning their last seven straight PSL games, and consequently putting themselves eight points clear at the top of the PSL standings.
However, their mettle will be tested in the coming weeks, with Baxter’s team taking part in eight games, in three competitive competitions, before the end of February.
Chiefs’ next match will see them take on Moroka Swallows at Dobsonville Stadium on Friday, January 31, before they take on the Nedbank Cup Ke Yona team two days later on February 2.
Then, on February 5, Chiefs travel to Pretoria to face SuperSport United, before hosting their first CAF Champions League opponents, Black Africa of Namibia, at FNB Stadium on February 8.
The Amakhosi then make the trip to Pietermaritzburg to take on Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium on February 11, travelling to Namibia for the second leg of their CCL tie against Black Africa on the 15th.
Four days after that, on February 19, Chiefs host Bloemfontein Celtic at FNB Stadium in the PSL, and then, on the weekend of the 22nd, play Black Leopards in the 2014 Nedbank Cup Round of 32.
Baxter’s squad depth will no doubt be tested over the coming weeks, with several of his fringe players likely to get a run out in one or more of the games ahead.
