News reaching the Siya crew is that Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi will not travel with the team to Tunisia to face Esperance in the second leg of their CAF Champions League semi-final on Saturday.
Pirates PRO Mickey Modisane confirmed to the crew that Lekgwathi will not be travelling with the squad.
“The decision to leave Lucky behind was taken by the technical team. They felt that he was not match fit because he last played in the game against Al Ahly, some weeks ago,” said Modisane.
“They feel that he will only be ready to play in the Telkom Knockout match against Golden Arrows as well as in the Soweto derby against Kaizer Chiefs,” added Modisane.
This is not the first time that the Bucs captain has been left out of the team. He missed the second leg MTN8 semi-final game against Kaizer Chiefs and the MTN8 final against Platinum Stars.
After missing the final Lekgwathi wrote a scathing column in one of the daily publication saying that sinister forces within Bucs were the reasons why he wasn’t playing.
Earlier this week the Siya crew was told by a source within the Pirates camp that Lekgwathi had sorted out his differences with Pirates and the player was included in the Bucs squad for Saturday’s game against Esperance.
However, the Bucs technical team has decided to leave him behind.
