Bucs Coach: It Was Unacceptable From Us

Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic admits that it is unacceptable that his side surrendered a two-goal lead to draw with Cape Town City on Wednesday night.

First-half goals from Augustine Mulenga and Innocent Maela handed the Buccaneers a convincing lead going into half time, but a sloppy second half showing from the home side saw Ayanda Patosi score a brace as the league match ended 2-2.

Speaking after the match Sredojevic made his feelings very clear and confessed that they paid the price for a poor effort.

“We had the team under total dominance in the first half. We had 2-0. We had the chance to bury the game and instead of burying the game we allowed them to score that one goal that put us under an element of pressure,” Sredojevic told SuperSport after the game.

“It can show that 2-0 is the most dangerous scoreline in the game of football.

“It was unacceptable that we opened up for them to catch us on counters to allow this amount of out numberings. This is exactly where we pay the price.

“We had clear cut chances to bury the game and to pull away from them. We had them on the hook, they went off the hook. It is a lesson. On a score like 2-0, we have no time to be complacent, to relax and to think that everything is our result.

“In this game you have no time to relax, you have no time to be complacent. We have learnt this lesson the hard way.

“We insisted at half time to by no means allow complacency but to defend by possession, to defend by attacking, to score the third goal and put the game beyond their reach.

“Everything went well until that moment when we conceded the first goal, from that moment blood entered into our head and we lost concentration in the set-piece closing division of the goal keeper and the side-kick which is completely unacceptable.

“Simply this is to regret and to learn the lesson that 2-0 is the most dangerous score in football and to prepare for our Saturday game.

“We need to go back to the drawing board, to pull up our shoes and socks and prepare for Saturday's game. We cannot cry about this. We must put it behind us.”
