Orlando Pirates have resumed training following their Christmas break. The players reported for training today (Tuesday), in preparation for the rest of the season.
Coach Roger de Sa and his technical team will put the players through their paces, although the league will only resume next month due to the African Cup of Nations break.
De SA, however, will be without Senzo Meyiwa, Siyabonga Sangweni, Thabo Matlaba, Oupa Manyisa and Collins Mbesuma, who are all on international duty for the upcoming Afcon.
The rest of the squad is expected back at the office, barring Onyekachi Okonkwo, Benni McCarthy, Rooi Mahamutsa and Moeneeb Josephs. The four players are on the sidelines nursing their respective injuries.
The defending Absa Premiership champions will be looking to defend their title and clinch their third successive league crown. After 16 rounds of the campaign, Bucs are poised in second place, one point behind league leaders and arch rivals, Kaizer Chiefs.
With a single point separating the two Soweto giants, the second round of the 2012/13 campaign will undoubtedly be a sprint to the finish line.
