Maritzburg United have confirmed that influential midfielder, Delron Buckley, has made his return to full training with the club. The creative 36-year-old has spent a large part of the season on the sidelines with a succession of injuries, and his presence in the starting line-up appears to have been sorely missed at times.
The experienced former Bafana Bafana international no longer seems to play on the left wing as in his more youthful tear-away days, and instead takes up a more central role where he's able to use his good football brain to make things happen.
Last season he struck up an excellent understanding with then United striker, Cuthbert Malajila, who has since gone on to have success at Mamelodi Sundowns. The absence of the pair from the starting line-up in the current campaign seems to have affected the Team of Choice's ability to score goals, nonetheless Buckley's return to training will undoubtedly come as a huge boost.
Maritzburg's Team Manager, Quintin Jettoo, confirmed that the player had made his return along with young utility player, Rheece Evans. He said, "Delron and Rheece have both made their return to full training. They both started training with the team last Monday (January 13) after both being out injured."
The pair are both expected to be available for United's PSL clash with University of Pretoria on February 5. The action gets underway from 19h30 at Tuks Stadium.
