The Siya crew reported earlier this month that the 20-year-old had joined the Amakhosi on their preseason camp in Mpumalanga as they looked for a replacement for Reyaad Pieterse, although he has also been playing for Wits University during the varsity games.
Petersen managed to keep out an onslaught of efforts from the University of the Western Cape during their 0-0 draw on Monday night, taking home the Man of the Match award for his efforts.
The shot-stopper has since returned to training with the Amakhosi as he looks to land himself a deal at Naturena, though he is expected to turn out for Wits once again when they take on North West University Mafikeng on 1 August.
