Milano United midfielder Bridget Motha has confirmed that he will be leaving the club, but it is not yet clear where his next destination is.
Motha, a one-time junior international, has been doing very well for the National First Division side. His contract is coming to an end at the end of the current month and he is set to move on, with a couple of PSL teams said to be interested.
It is understood that the Free State-born player has been itching for a move to the elite league for some time now and feels that, with age fast catching up with him, that needs to happen sooner rather than later.
Speaking to the Siya crew, Motha said, “It’s true that I won’t be staying with Milano. I told them that I won’t be able to play for them going forward, so I won’t be renewing my contract. However, I am still waiting for umjita wam u (my representative) Kabelo Sibiya to come back to me, as I am aware that a couple of clubs are interested. I really hope I secure a move to the PSL as I want to rub shoulders with the big boys.”
The player, who has three national U23 caps to his name, has been a bit of a journeyman in his career. He has previously been on the books of Benoni Premier United, Western Province United, Durban Stars, University of Pretoria and FC Cape Town, and has also plied his trade for FC Senica who campaign in the top tier of Slovakian football.
