There is a growing trend of having two coaches in charge in the DStv Premiership, and AmaZulu interim coach Brandon Truter has expressed his admiration for South African coaches.
Truter, eager to take up the head coach role at Usuthu, revealed that he is unaware of who is on Usuthu’s wanted list.
Truter was appointed as AmaZulu’s caretaker coach until the end of the season, taking over from Benni McCarthy, who parted ways with Usuthu.
The former Swallows coach also stated that he admires Orlando Pirates co-coaches Fadlu Davids and Mandla Ncikazi and Mamelodi Sundowns co-coaches Rulani Mokwena and Manqoba Mngqithi.
Sekhukhune United are the recent team to join the trend as they roped in Owen Da Gama as the second co-coach alongside MacDonald Makhubedu.
“I admire the Sundowns co-coaches of Mokwena and Mngqithi and [Steve] Komphela; they have found harmony with one another,” added Truter.
“I also admire the two coaches at Pirates, but you need to find harmony. Once you bring in two contrasting styles of play, you will have a confused team. And once you have two contrasting ideas, you will have coaches who don’t see eye to eye.”
