The Premier Soccer League CEO, Brand de Villiers, has wished Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United well as they undertake away trips in the Caf Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively.
Chiefs will be up against AS Vita Club on Sunday in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where a 30-000 strong crowd and hostile conditions await them. Meanwhile, Matsatsantsa a Pitori will face Tunisian giants, Etoile du Sahel, on Saturday. De Villiers said the success of both clubs in CAF club competitions is important in asserting the PSL amongst the dominant leagues within the African continent.
“So far, both Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United have done very well in preliminary stages of the continental club championships. We will be fully behind them this weekend as they play these important matches and also during the return leg here at home. It is important that our clubs qualify for the group stages and go as far as possible in both the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederations Cup. I wish both clubs the best of luck this weekend and during the return leg,” he said.
Both teams will miss out on domestic football this weekend, and will resume their domestic duties on Wednesday next week when they participate in the Nedbank Cup Last 16, where Chiefs will play Buffallo FC and SuperSport will be up against Moroka Swallows.
