A Botswana team has confirmed having lined up a friendly match with Mamelodi Sundowns.
According to Botswana Premier League side Township Rollers, a friendly match scheduled to take place on the weekend has been organised for the team against the reigning PSL champions.
“INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLIES Township Rollers FC vs Mamelodi Sundowns 7th July (saturday), National Stadium at 15h30,” Rollers tweeted.
On the club’s official website, Rollers have confirmed having lost 3-0 to Downs in an earlier friendly match played in Mzansi last weekend.
“Township Rollers on Saturday morning lost 3-0 to former African champions and current South African PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns in a closed door friendly played at Phokeng outside Rustenburg. Popa were doing well in matching their well-established opponents early on, but from the moment a backline error allowed Sundowns to open the scoring account through Sibusiso Vilakazi, Masandawana would get two further goals from Ali Meza and Lucky Mohomi to secure the three goal advantage,” confirmed Rollers on the club’s official website.
“It was a fully deserved win for the hosts. But the three goal margin still did not give a proper reflection of a Rollers side who also created their own chances and spent most of the game matching a full strength Sundowns team who had given both new signings and familiar stars a run on the day,” confirmed the club.
As confirmed by the Botswana club, Pitso Mosimane’s side had their stars firing in all cylinders in the match, including new signings Andile Jali and Jose Ali Meza.
Cuthbert Malajila, George Lebese and Oupa Manyisa are some of the players who reportedly did well for Downs in the match.
