Veteran centre-back Matthew Booth has officially put pen to paper, signing a deal with Wits ahead of the 2013/14 campaign.
The finer details of the contract have not yet been revealed, however it is thought that the 36-year-old has agreed to a one-year deal, with an option to renew for a further year thereafter. This was after the player completed his medical with the club earlier this week.
The 37-cap Bafana Bafana international left Ajax Cape Town after his contract expired at the end of June. It could be the defender’s last move, in a glittering career, which has spanned close to 20 years.
The player’s agent, Paul Mitchell, confirmed that Booth had signed a deal with Wits. He told the Siya crew, “Yes, it’s all sorted. He has signed and is now a Wits player.”
Booth’s signing is expected to be followed by the capture of Musa Bilankulu from Golden Arrows.
The 28-year-old defender-cum-midfielder has reportedly agreed terms to join Wits, with the move said to be imminent. The Siya crew will continue to keep you updated on the story.
