Despite reports stating that Ajax Cape Town defender Matthew Booth has signed a new contract with the club, news reaching the Siya crew is that he has not yet put pen to paper.
Ajax’s CEO, George Comitis, confirmed to the Siya crew that they have offered the former Bafana Bafana man a new deal, but would not say whether or not he had signed.
The crew went on to contact Paul Mitchell of Siyavuma Sports Group, Booth’s representatives, who explained that they are currently looking at the offer tabled by the Urban Warriors.
Mitchell said, “Yes, Ajax have put forward a new contract for Matthew, but nothing has been signed and we’re just looking over it at present.”
Booth has been named as the club’s Player of the Year, following his fine performances in the club’s colours this season, as he helped them salvage their PSL status, and fans of the Urban Warriors will no doubt be eager to see him extend his spell at Ikamva.
