News reaching the Siya crew is that former Ajax Cape Town defender, Matthew Booth, could well be on his way to Wits for one last season, however his agent insists that nothing is confirmed as of yet.
The 36-year-old veteran centre back recently informed the Urban Warriors that he would not be signing the contract extension that they had tabled, instead opting to return to Johannesburg for family reasons.
However, the crew has been informed that Booth is likely to put pen to paper with Gavin Hunt’s side for one season before hanging up his boots.
Yet despite the rumours, Paul Mitchell, of Siyavuma Sports Group, says that nothing has been confirmed just yet.
The player’s representative explained, “After several discussions with Ajax Cape Town Matthew informed them of his decision to return to Jo’burg. He’s very grateful for his time at Ajax, he enjoyed it immensely, and at this time there is interest from a couple of clubs but at this moment in time there is nothing confirmed.”
It is expected that the former Bafana Bafana defender will be at Braamfontein next season, although there has been no official confirmation just yet.
