Matthew Booth’s move to Wits is close to being finalised, after the veteran centre-back completed a medical with The Students earlier today.
Last week, reports in the local media surfaced, indicating that the 36-year-old had completed his medical. However, the club denied the reports at the time.
Siya sources have since confirmed that Booth underwent a medical this morning (July 1), and if given the all-clear by Wits’ medical team, will begin training with the rest of the squad later today.
In addition, he is expected to sign a new deal, should he pass the routine medical. Booth’s contract with Ajax Cape Town expired at the end of June, and it looks increasingly likely that he will spend at least one more season playing in the PSL, with Wits.
Soccer-Laduma will keep you posted as to the exact terms of Booth’s new deal, if and when it goes through, as expected!
