Polokwane City Set To Retain Marumo

Polokwane City coach, Boebie Solomons, revealed that their experienced goalkeeper, Modiri Marumo, is staying with the club.

The crew understands that the Botswana-born shot-stopper's contract is coming to a close on June 30, however, a word from the former Bloemfontein Celtic assistant coach is that they aim to retain Marumo.

“We will definitely see new faces next season and as you know, we had a number of inexperienced players in the squad. We cannot have to knock our heads again like we did this past season. We have started negotiations with some of the players already."

“We’ve got good names in discussion, and hopefully everything will go as planned."

Asked if they aim to retain Marumo following his heroics for the club in the recent-concluded Promotion/Relegation play-offs, 'Mzala' said: "Yes, definitely. Modiri is our keeper. He has been a crucial member of the squad and he’s definitely not going anywhere. He will stay with us as we aim to build on our last season experience. We will have to have back-up for him, and that means we’ll look for a keeper as well,” said Solomons.

The 37-year-old former Botswana Defence Force XI keeper started all the league games for Rise and Shine this past season, and his experience could be vital for the club.

The crew tried to contact the shot-stopper, but his mobile phone was switched off .
