Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Giovanni Solinas, has been dealt a blow after one of his star strikers was ruled out for around three weeks with an ankle injury.
The Siya crew reported yesterday that Leonardo Castro faced a spell on the sidelines after picking up a knock against Cape Town City earlier this month, and that Erick Mathoho would miss the encounter with AmaZulu today as he too recovers from injury.
Now the news has been confirmed by the club themselves, with Chiefs explaining that Castro faces just under a month out as he recovers from the injury that saw him substituted in the 4-1 victory over City.
A statement on the club’s official website said, “Erick Mathoho looked on from the sideline during the pre-match session, as the lanky defender is recovering from a thigh muscle strain. Another on the injury list is Leonardo Castro, who has a left ankle injury and will be out for about three weeks.”
The Glamour Boys face AmaZulu at FNB Stadium this evening as they look to win three consecutive games for the first time since April 2017, and Solinas will be hoping for the likes of Khama Billiat and Dumisani Zuma to step up in front of goal in the coming weeks while their Colombian hitman recovers.
