Wandisile Letlabika is set to have crunch talks with Celtic regarding his future in the coming weeks, the Siya crew has learnt.
The defender’s contract with the Mangaung outfit was extended last year, when they exercised the one-year option on his deal. At the time, both Kaizer Chiefs and Chippa United were sniffing around.
Now, Celtic will be putting in the work to meet the player’s demands, as the club will need to offer a lucrative financial offer, or he will assess his options elsewhere. The player will not be short of options should he opt to leave the club in search of a fresh challenge.
“I know that Wandi’s contract has come to an end, but I know that we have engaged with management to start the negotiations with his manager. I spoke to Wandi and, as far as I’m concerned, he’s still happy at Celtic and he’s looking forward to the coming season, unless anything happens between now and then,” Coach John Maduka said speaking to the media ahead of the Nedbank Cup final.
With the player technically a free agent, the ball is in his court. The defender is understood to be content at Celtic, having spent seven years at the club. However, at 31, he will be looking to secure his last big pay day and will look to significantly increase his current package, should he stay at the club.

After flirting with relegation this past season, Chippa United are looking to bolster their defence and coach Lehlohonolo Seema, who worked with Letlabika at Celtic, could look to lure the burly defender to the Port Elizabeth outfit.
It remains to be seen whether the defender will remain with Siwelele beyond the current season or if he will continue his journey elsewhere.
