Bloemfontein Celtic caretaker coach Lehlohonolo Seema has praised his team for their efforts in a 1-1 draw away to Orlando Pirates on Tuesday night.
Phunya Sele Sele led for much of the game thanks to the opening goal from defender Tshepo Rikhotso, but the Buccaneers struck back late on to equalise through substitute Luvoyo Memela.
The result saw Pirates rise to the top of the Absa Premiership log ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns, who were beaten 2-1 away to Cape Town City.
“I must congratulate the guys, they have worked extremely hard. It’s not easy to keep Pirates at bay for that long and we knew that to get a second goal would be better so that we can ease the pressure,” said Seema in his post-match television interview.
“We kept on missing the chances that we were getting, the breaks that we had, we were supposed to use them effectively so that we can hurt them [Pirates].”
He added, “I’m disappointed a little bit that we conceded from the middle, where we had numbers. We could have done better, but we’ll take a point, a precious point from Orlando Pirates.”
Celtic will return to Premiership action next Friday, March 15, when they host Bidvest Wits in Bloemfontein.
