Birds Edge Tuks

Telkom Knockout

Result: Swallows 1-0 Tuks

Date: 05 October

Venue: Dobsonville Stadium

Edward Manqele’s 23rd minute goal was enough to give Moroka Swallows a 1-0 win over Tuks, which sends them through to the next round of the Telkom Knockout cup.

The first 10 minutes of this Telkom Knockout Cup game produced little chances created for either side, with both goalkeepers not called in to action at the Dobsonville Stadium.

Massa had great chance from a long pass, but Etafia was alert enough to make a smart save.

Edward Mnqele opened the scoring with a right-footed shot past Tuks goalkeeper, Washington Arubi, which was assisted by Lefa Tsutsulupa in the 23rd minute to give Moroka Swallows a one goal lead after a tense start to this Telkom Knockout game.

Tuks did push forward in search of an equaliser, but were only able to try and test the Dube Birds goalkeeper Etafia with a few long range efforts from outside the box.

Mnqele did have another chance when he latched on to a superb through ball, but he was stopped by some smart goalkeeping by Arubi this time and would not add to his tally for the evening.

As the second half wore on, the tackles became more and more fierce as both teams looked to take a hold on the game and had Khethukuhle Zwane and Chanangu both booked in quick succession.

This is the second time AmaTuks have tasted defeat to the Birds this season, after the same score-line in a league clash earlier this season.
