Golden Arrows defender-cum-midfielder, Musa Bilankulu, has yet to report for preseason, amidst rumours that he is discussing a potential move away from the club.
Bilankulu has been a long-serving member of Abafana Bes’thende, having joined the team back in the 2005/06 season. His solid performances in the past few seasons seem to have caught the eye of a number of observers.
The Siya crew recently reported that Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are monitoring the 28-year-old player’s situation closely, with a view of potentially bringing the player on board.
His absence from training has fuelled more fire to the speculation, however the Malamulele-born star has laughed off the suggestions.
He told Soccer-Laduma, “The only reason I’m not at training is because I’ve been down with flu. But I’m still in Durban. I still have to go back to the doctor and he’s the one who’s going to advise me when I have to go back to training.
“I know that people always talk, but let them talk! This has nothing to do with my future. I think I got sick at the wrong time, when there’s all this talk. As far as I know, I still have a contract with the club.”
The club’s PRO, Vusumuzi Vilakazi, said, “His absence from training has nothing to do with his rumoured departure. The management is aware why he’s not at training, although I didn’t get any details about the reasons behind it. We expect him back at training soon.”
