Musa Bilankulu will, in all likelihood, be playing for Bloemfontein Celtic next season.
The 29-year-old old defender joined Wits at the beginning of last season from Golden Arrows, but saw his progress being hampered by lack of game time. He only started four league games and was snapped up by Phunya Sele Sele on loan. Bilankulu fitted in like a hand in glove at the side, notching up 14 starts in the league.
It seems there is no place for the Malamulele-born player at the Clever Boys, with the likes of Siyabonga Nhlapo, Matthew Booth and on-loan Kwanda Mngonyama all contesting the central defence position.
Speaking to the Siya crew, Bilankulu’s agent, Josiah Mphono, said all is set for the player to join Ernst Middendorp’s side.
“He signed a three-year deal with Celtic two weeks back, with the player and club having agreed terms. We are now waiting for the player and Wits to finalise his exit. He had done well at Celtic, more like Tiger Woods at the PGA Tour. He has featured in all the games, except for when he was suspended against Ajax Cape Town and couldn’t play against Wits because of the loan agreement between the two clubs. He is a versatile player as well, as he can fit in at central midfield,” raved Mphono.
When contacted by the crew, a coy Bilankulu said, “No, bhuti wami, I’m not doing interviews at the moment, as I’m busy. Call me after two weeks.”
